I met VISHAL (GUDDI) in 6th standard. Kids were we and little did I know what I had got. He’s a gem of a person. (More of a baby than a person). Thats what i love about him. He’s carefree, playful, unattached and more importantly true at heart. Its been a long journey with him and we have seen it through the thick and thin.
It started out by our( Vishal, Vineeth, Vinay, Prateek, Prithveesh n me) outings to Sarojini Nagar (Prithveesh’s place) where we used to play cricket at the RBI Ground. Thanks to Vishal, I played with pads for the first time. We were so excited that we started playing in the street itself. Such carefree times were those.
As time passed, Vishal moved to Jia Sarai and our homeground changed to IIT. More than IIT, we enjoyed playing at his place. The balcony and terrace. PLAY & Search was the Motto. Play cricket and if the ball went down then find someone strong enough to throw the ball 4 floors up. Even bhaiya joined the club.
It was thanks to Vishal that we had our first night-stay-cum Night-out. His parents were out of town so we all stayed at his place. Played basketball at IIT and eventually as the night dawned, we were back to cricket at his balcony. Spend the night playing, had bread and butter in breakfast (Thanks to me as i made the sandwiches). It was great fun n real quality time.
Basketball at IIT or cricket used to be the norm of the day. We even took on the home team in a series and we guys managed to draw the series 1-1 (we were playing after a while so were a little rusted)
Our outings weren’t restricted to the field. Every now and then we would catch a movie at Priya’s, grab some pizzas or burgers or at times just stick to the Indian cuisine of UDUPI restaurant where vinay always ordered Chole-bhathure and a few of us followed que.
After high school, the gang dispersed leaving Vishal, prithveesh n me in town. Manjeet was added to our group. Prithveesh shifted to vikaspuri and me and vishal used to go all the way to DC to meet him. He never said no to our plans and is one of my favourite pillions till date. He neber complained and used to enjoy our escapades.
Next up was (Prithveesh’s) Di’s marriage where vishal accompanied me to the wedding and we stayed awake the whole night just to see that the who;le wedding went on smoothly. That was the time when we became family. The three of us slept in the same room after we bid adieu to di and wishing her a prosperous life ahead. Vishal and Prithveesh being quick to catch a breath after the long and emotional night.
He n Prithveesh got me thru hospital. 2 broken bones, head injury and squint eyes, i was pretty much thinking about the end of road when these two came to see me. They got my confidence back and to this day am thankful to god for giving me a friend like vishal. I remember this 1 incident-i could not sit without support. I had to sit sideways to eat and had no support so vishal sat with his back against my back and gave me support. This little gesture of his really touched me and it proved that i couldn’t stand without him around. He brought to life the saying-A FRIEND IN NEED IS A FRIEND INDEED. Thank you bro for sticking it out for me.
He is responsible guy and this is evident from him taking care of 4 gals at my bro’s wedding. Each one of them had their own agenda but he took charge and everything went on smoothly. Even now whenever someone from our gang is in town, you make sure that we meet and have a good time.
He is a really cool guy to hang out with as Priyanka experienced on our trip to KOORG. I still remember me, vishal and prithveesh sitting in the backseat and dancing on AAHUN-AAHUN- AAHUN. Another memorable trip...
Gosh, Its been quite a journey....
I pray to god that he gives you all the happiness in the world. You ROCK bro...love you lots and hope we stay together till i die...god bless you GUDDI....
